The title of the exhibition Human Geographies and Cosmic Abstractions sums up the journey of an artist who has spent his life looking at the world from different, yet deeply united, perspectives. Human geographies represent the most immediate part of his work. It is the photographs dedicated to people, to faces stolen on the streets or in trattorias and to the gestures of everyday life that, put together, draw a sort of map of humanity and our way of inhabiting space.
Cosmic abstractions, on the other hand, refer to his bravest experiments, where Migliori does not use the camera and works directly on gelatin silver paper or photosensitive plates with heat, water, and chemistry, or through other artistic investigations. The exhibition explains to us that for Migliori there is no separation between the reality we observe every day and the universe that the artist can create by manipulating matter.
Whether it’s a passer-by or a chemical reaction on a piece of paper, the goal is always to train your gaze to see beyond the surface of things, trying to glimpse the future and infinity within the present.
