The exhibition Postcards: Images and Whispers draws its inspiration from the form of the postcard: an object where image and word coexist. Each photograph is accompanied by a reproduction of its back side, revealing messages—handwritten or typed—sometimes a small sketch, or even the silence of a blank surface.

The exhibition functions as a collective portrait of contemporary sensitivity, exploring how people speak of absence, love, memory, and the need to share moments. The curatorial approach preserves the variety and the diverse relationships that develop between the image and the message, allowing for the emergence of the multiple ways in which creators choose to address a recipient. The “postcard” is treated less as an aesthetic object and more as a trace of a human gesture of communication. These messages are addressed to loved ones, absent or present, or even to imaginary recipients—frequently even to the self. Some are deeply personal; others resemble small literary gestures, while some carry an element of the fantastic or the paradoxical.

The exhibition is realized in collaboration with the Women’s Photo Festival. The exhibition in Ostuni will present a curated selection from the original exhibition, which featured over 300 works, offering a more intimate constellation of images and correspondences while preserving the spirit and conceptual framework of the larger project. For its presentation in Ostuni, the works were selected by the Ostuni Photo Festival team.
